I've read this book in just an evening and morning. It is written in such a way that you can't stop and put it aside - you just need to continue because you want to find out what will happen and what has happened. A great thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat and had me constantly worrying about the MC's well-being.

Rose had a tragic childhood, along with her younger sister, Daisy. They live in a trailer with their drug addicted father. Rose spins stories to Daisy about their deceased mother, how perfect she was, and how much fun they had with her, all the stories are imaginary, their mother was a drug addict who died of an overdose. This is all I knew when I started reading this book but oh boy was I in for a good story. Before I properly start the review, I want to thank Netgalley and Avon Books for letting me read this ARC. Now, let's start. In the present, Rose Reid is hiding out in an abandoned cabin, injured and afraid. She is terrified of being discovered and it is clear her life depends on staying hidden. The story is intercepted by 'past' chapters that detail the dramatic events that led to the cabin. From her traumatic childhood to her chance meeting with her prince charming, Rose's life seems like an amazing rags to riches story but it's anything but. The Cabin in the Woods is the first of Sarah Alderson's book's I've read, and it was everything I love in a murder mystery. There was only one person's point of view in this book, but it spanned across both her past an present, with the past working its way up to the present, so reader's are filled in on her past as the book comes to its climax. It wasn't 100% what I thought it would be when I went into it, but it was great nonetheless! Kiko - The Japanese floating girl ghost. Generic reference: Yurei films (e.g. The Grudge (2004) and The Ring (2002).) [Seen in Japan]

Jenkins and Whitford were also admired by The A.V. Club ("Whitford and Jenkins clearly delight in the verbose script") and by Wired, whose reviewer (granting 9 of 10 stars) called Cabin "a smart sendup of horror movies and mythology...with a peculiar relish that testifies to the moviemakers' love of genre film... a smart, sarcastic and deliriously fun journey into the belly of the horror beast." He cited the "witty banter, creative twists" and "clippy, quippy dialog that lifted Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer to cult status." [39] Subers, Ray (April 14, 2012). "Friday Report: 'Hunger Games' Beats 'Stooges,' 'Cabin' ". Box Office Mojo. Archived from the original on November 16, 2018 . Retrieved December 26, 2018.

The characterisation is excellent you feel everything Rose feels and you root for her and those who help her. Her paranoia, tension, anxiety, helplessness and fear come across loud and clear. This is the book that Rich wrote after morning chores, first published in 1942. It’s her story of how she and her husband made their dream come true in the woods.Ancient Ones - Unique godly beings partially seen at the end of the film in the pit and bursting through the earth. The driving force behind the movie. Apparently influenced by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and possibly as a not-so-subtle dig at the viewing audience. Despite the darkness in this book, it is also a book about friendship, and learning to trust other people. The 2012 Detroit Film Critics Society Awards". DetroitFilmCritics.com. December 14, 2012. Archived from the original on January 18, 2014 . Retrieved December 26, 2018. This movie is full of twists and turns you don't know what way it's going to go. It's smart, funny, gory and sexy with fantastic acting by all the cast. I was on the edge of my seat hungry for more. Kraken - Massive tentacles seen in control room assault scene. Kills the Chem tech Lin. Generic reference: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954). [Not on Betting Pool Board]
